Engine & Transmission - Specs/Mods

1987 Buick 3.8L Turbo engine and TH200 4R transmission - Quite possibly the most awesome performance engine from Detroit, ever.

Engine

Shortblock - Stock rebuild Nov '00
- +.020 Federal Mogul Hyper pistons
- ARP rod bolts
- ARP head studs
- Rebuilt oil pump
- Double roller timing chain
- Standard rebuild "stuff": align bore, re-hone, resized rods, polished crank

Heads - Bone Stock
- Fresh valve job
- New valve springs

Kudos to Mike at PHB Engine in Orlando, 407-851-3251, for the awesome job on the rebuild. This engine has seen its share of unintentional abuse while I climbed the steep curve learning to tune this beast. Also proves, to me at least, that hyper pistons have an undeserved reputation. Thanks to Jack Cotton for pointing that out and making the recommendation.

- Shift kit (brand unknown)

- B&M Pro-Ratchet shifter
